The DRILL TIE® is a self-drilling steel rod capable of securing wood forms during the placement of concrete.
- The Drill Tie® utilizes a patented bit end for drilling through the wood forms
- Notches allow placement of securing Drill Tie® clips to positively secure the desired form dimension. Break points are positioned 1/4” inside the form dimension for easy form removal
- Sizes available for standard wall/column dimensions and specialty sizes can be made to order
DRILL TIE® Clip – The Drill Tie® clip is a 1/4” steel plate with keyhole to positively engage in Drill Tie® notch at designed specification on outside of concrete forms. The form secured for placement of concrete with an Out-to-Out tolerance of 1/32”. Drill Tie® Clips are re-usable.
DRILL TIE® Chuck Adapter - The Drill Tie® Chuck Adapter is affixed to a drill to hold and turn the Drill Tie® for drilling through plywood and waler. Fits any high speed drill.
Each Drill Tie® when installed as a system as recommended, utilizing standard concrete forming techniques, has a holding capacity of 3000 lbs per tie.
Standard Drill Tie® Clips fit all Drill Tie® sizes, are re-usable and sold in boxes of 100.
DRILL TIE® Sizing and Specifications
The DRILL TIE® is specified by 2 dimensions:
• concrete thickness
• form thickness – measure of plywood form and securing braces
Standard Sizes
example – 7 5/8 x 2 1/8 is utilized to form when working with an 8 inch block wall and using 5/8” plywood and 2x4 flat waler
example – 7 5/8 x 2 1/4 is utilized to form when working with an 8 inch block wall and using 3/4” plywood and 2x4 flat waler
Special Sizes
example – 11 5/8 x 2 1/8 is utilized to form when working with an 12 inch block wall and using 5/8” plywood and 2x4 flat waler
example – 12” x 2 1/4 is utilized to form a true 12” formed column or beam with 3/4” plywood and 2x4 flat waler
Long Tail Sizes
example – 8” x 5 3/4 is utilized for forming a 8” wall and using 3/4” plywood and a ‘stong back’ application (2x4’s on edge with flat 2x4 waler)
